New SELINA publication explores the value of hunting ecosystem services
A new scientific publication titled “Valuing hunting as an ecosystem service: a national-level assessment using cost-based and benefit transfer methods in the Czech Republic” was published in the Ecosystem Services journal.
The publication, authored by Eva Horváthová, presents the first national-level assessment of hunting-related ecosystem services in the Czech Republic. It evaluates both the value of wild game meat and the cultural value of recreational hunting using different economic and spatial assessment methods.
The study also highlights the high economic value of recreational hunting and shows how ecosystem service valuation can support ecosystem accounting, wildlife management and sustainable use of natural resources.
