SELINA at the 11th ESP World conference: Strengthening global connections in ecosystem services

The SELINA project will participate in the upcoming 11th ESP World Conference, taking place between 23–27 June 2025 in Darwin, Australia. Under the theme “From global to local ecosystem services: pathways to Nature-based Solutions inspired from Down Under”, the conference will gather researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from across the globe to share knowledge and explore scalable, nature-based solutions.

Organised by Charles Darwin University in partnership with the global ESP network, the conference programme will include keynote talks by ten leading experts, alongside a variety of panel discussions, workshops, interactive sessions, and poster presentations at the Darwin Convention Centre.

SELINA will be represented at the Pensoft exhibition booth, as part of its strategic collaboration with Pensoft, the partner leading the project’s communication and dissemination activities. Visitors to the booth will have the opportunity to learn more about SELINA’s objectives, methodologies, and progress, with a selection of promotional materials available to showcase the project’s work. This presence reflects project's ongoing commitment to international outreach and knowledge exchange at the science–policy–practice interface.

The event will also highlight SELINA’s strong connection with One Ecosystem, an open-access journal, founded within the ESP community and published by Pensoft. A dedicated session on Thursday, 26 June, titled “Scholarly publishing and communication bridges traditional science with ‘alternative’ scientific resources – the case of the ESP-born One Ecosystem journal”, will be led by Prof. Dr. Benjamin Burkhard, Editor-in-Chief of One Ecosystem and Coordinator of project SELINA.

With SELINA and ESP sharing a deep commitment to bridging science, policy, and practice, the 11th World ESP conference provides an ideal platform to reinforce shared goals, build new connections, and promote collaborative approaches to sustainable development.
