Third Community of Practice in Germany: Knowledge transfer from research into ecosystem services, natural capital and biodiversity for decision-making in the private sector
The third German Community of Practice meeting took place on 10–11 September 2026 at Leibniz University Hannover (LUH).
Building on the exchanges initiated during the previous meeting in September 2025, which focused on knowledge transfer for public-sector decision-making, the third session shifted the focus to the private sector and brought together 20 participants from research institutions, public authorities and NGOs.
The meeting was organised under the leadership of SELINA and coordinated at LUH. A representative of SELINA partner Capitals Coalition presented the status of SELINA’s Demonstration Projects in the private sector, highlighting the project’s work in this area.
The programme also included World Café discussions and a practical session in which participants tested the Ecosystem Services Valuation Database (ESVD). SELINA’s Project Coordinator (LUH), together with representatives of PhyGeo, contributed to the meeting, bringing perspectives from SELINA and related research on ecosystem services, natural capital and biodiversity.
The activities provided an opportunity to exchange views on the use of ecosystem services knowledge and valuation tools in decision-making and generated interest in continuing the exchange, with further network meetings planned for the future.
